Areruya Joseph won his second consecutive Kivu Race title on Sunday to enhance his growing reputation as a one of current Rwandan top riders.

The Amis Sportifs rider continued his impressive run of form through this year’s Rwanda Cycling by sprinting to the line for his second consecutive victory in Rubavu. It was his second triumph in this year’s Rwanda Cycling Cup after he won the Farmer’s Race in April.

“I am happy to win here again. Obviously this has become one of my favorite races.”

“Winning today is good but, as Team Rwanda riders, we want to use these races as preparations for the big race we have next month, which is the Tour of Colombia.”

Cine Elmay’s Karegeya Jeremy was second and Amis Sportifs’s Uwizeye Jean Claude took third place.

In the Junior race, Manizabayo Eric rode a fantastic race to claim his third victory in a row in this year’s cycling cup.

Meanwhile, Benediction Club’s Uwineza Chance who was racing her second ever race, won the women’s race over Niyonsaba Clementine.

The Rwanda Cycling Cup which is sponsored by Skol and Cogebanque resumes next month with an individual time trial scheduled on June 25.
