Bonaventure Uwizeyimana and Jeanne d’Arc Girubuntu clinch wins at Race To Remember

Bonaventure Uwizeyimana won his first race at the 2017 Rwanda Cycling Cup series with a solo charge to the line to win the ‘Race To Remember’ in front of a massive crowd in Karongi on Saturday.

The Benediction Club rider won the race after being part of a two-rider breakaway that formed into the final 10-lap circuit of a race which started in Ruhango and finished in Karongi.

It wasn’t until past the halfway mark that five riders went clear. The breakaway containing Bosco Nsengimana stayed away until the final 10-lap circuit when they were inevitably caught.

Bonaventure Uwizeyimana teamed up with Ephrem Tuyishimire to break clear of the chasing pack before edging out his rival to take the win with only Jean Claude Uwizeye (Amis Sportifs ) able to make a late surge for the line to take second.

“It was a hard race but I am glad I won today.I want to thank my teammates who worked hard for me.”said Bonaventure.
