Byukusenge Patrick wins Race To Remember
Benediction Club rider Byukusenge Patrick posted his first victory in this year’s Rwanda Cycling Cup on Sunday finishing ahead of his national teammate Uwizeye Jean Claude in the Race To Remember
The second race on Rwanda Cycling Cup calendar,known as the Race To Remember,was organized in honor of the victims of the Genocide against Tutsis.
Byukusenge played it cool during the final six 10.6km-lap circuit and let his rival of the day,Uwizeye Jean Claude attack for much of the circuit.He then outsprinted him in the final kilometer.
“I am very happy for the win.It was a great performance from my teammates.” said Byukusenge
Areruya Joseph who won the Farmers Circuit a week earlier, suffered a problem with his bike and finished 17th overall.
Benediction Club’s Manizabayo Eric won the junior category with Niyonsaba Clementine dominating the women race.
The 2016 Rwanda Cycling Cup sponsored by Skol and Cogebanque resumes this Saturday with Kivu Race.
